I present to you… a concert at the grandest, most awe-inspiring venue known to mankind – The Pit’s in Kortrijk, Belgium! Two bands have graciously accepted the challenge of playing in this minuscule wonder of architectural design. Give it up for Nuit Noire and Serpent Mass! Together, they’ll be squeezing their soundwaves into every nook and cranny of The Pit’s, making you question the very laws of physics. For Serpent Mass it’s their first show ever!!! De Pankraker 213 – 22.09.2022 – Bones special
Today a special moment, because we have the best death metal band in Belgium visiting us. Or better: we went to visit the four-headed, gurgling monster called Bones a few days after their new record Sombre Opulence was released by the amazing underground label Invictus Productions. The band, a diverse quartet, kicks the balls out of their dark death metal trousers with a nine song album. Which bands have an influence on the band’s varied sound is up to you, but in the second part of the show, the band members themselves highlight several of those influences. The band members are light on their feet, but dead serious when it comes to the scorching results of their dedicated labour. Sombre Opulence is the first full length in the more than ten year existence of the band. Earlier there were two demos and as many eps. Today you get parts of the interview that will be presented in its entirety in one of our Pankraker magazine issues, maybe in a few months. They spoke to us in a two-hour interview: Viktor Walschaerts, man with the hard hitting sticks, Jeroen de Pauw, the stylised guitar aggressor, Stef Aertsen, the Dionysian guitar maniac and Laurens Oostrom, the stoic man of the thick strings. At the end of the show, the gentlemen will also add a short DJ set.

Such a list is always a calvary journey, in which the mood of the day is very decisive whether an album grew sufficiently in our ear. De Pankraker 195, dear and unbeloved listeners of our weekly beacon of darkness and damnation. Do you sometimes still feel danger when you listen to black metal? We don’t have it too often anymore. We do, however, when we listen to the band Ride For Revenge, filth from the land of saunas and a thousand lakes. We listen to the brand new album Feed The Infamy and the song The Altar of Eternal Power Fire.
But before we do that, we would like to ask you if you would be so kind as to send us your top 20 to depankraker@witkonijn.be. A new week, new filth. This time with a new batch of releases by Legion Blotan released at the beginning of September of 2021. Legion Blotan is a label from Yorshire England and is specialized in black metal, noise and harsh punk. Behind the label you’ll find George Proctor, the man behind about 40 bands. The most famous, and that is still relatively under the radar of many black metal fans, is probably White Medal. There are some clear lines to be drawn in what the label does. It deals in pagan bands, often in the rawer corners of the genres. Tapes seem to be the favorite format. And in many bands the man behind the label is also involved. It was also the reason for founding the label over a decade ago. We focus in this episode on a new batch of great sick music that was released at the beginning of September.
